Dato’ Ir Zainurin Bin Haji Karman, a Malaysian, aged 57, is our Independent Non- Executive Chairman. He was appointed to our Board on 15 December 2020. 

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University, United States of America in 1987. He is registered as a member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia since 18 July 1994 and a Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia since 23 November 1994. He is also a member of the Malaysian Water Association.

Upon graduation, he began his career in 1987 at Faraza Holdings Berhad as a Project Manager where he was tasked with overseeing the project execution including managing and coordinating project teams. He then joined Engineering & Environmental Consultant Sdn Bhd in 1990 as a Senior Engineer where he participated in engineering consulting projects undertaken by the company. In 1995, he left Engineering & Environmental Consultant Sdn Bhd and joined Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd as Senior Engineer, where his responsibilities included overseeing and managing the company’s sewerage assets, including new asset planning and construction management. While still being attached to Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd, he incorporated RE Consultant Sdn Bhd on 4 May 1996, a civil and structural engineering consulting firm. In 2000, he left Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd to focus solely on RE Consultant Sdn Bhd as the Managing Director to oversee the daily operations of the company, including business development. Subsequently in 2007, he incorporated ZAT Global Sdn Bhd, an engineering design and project management company. He further incorporated KCRE & Associates Sdn Bhd in 2016, a company that provides business management and engineering consultancy services. He previously sat on the board of directors of FajarBaru Builder Group Berhad, a company listed on the Main Market from 2006 to 2008 as Independent Non-Executive Director.

Presently, he sits on the board of directors of Iconic Worldwide Berhad, a company listed on the Main Market, as an Independent Non-Executive Chairman, a position he holds since 2013. From 2001 until January 2005 and from August 2005 until 2013, he previously served as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Iconic Worldwide Berhad. He also holds directorship in several private limited companies and currently serves as the Managing Director of RE Consultant Sdn Bhd, as well as an Executive Director of ZAT Global Sdn Bhd and KCRE & Associates Sdn Bhd.
